Week 1 of the Open is in the books! Great performances, and the Intramural competition is rolling! Lots of points still left to earn, so just because your team isn’t in 1st after week 1, doesn’t mean things can’t change quickly!  Lots of points coming this week too, with everyone who brought cookies earning a point for their team.  And Tina earned an extra bonus point for her team.  Though there were so many, a taste test was impossible, Tina’s designs were truly master chef level!

Thursday night this past week is a memory I’ll have for many years to come. It is perhaps my favorite Open memory in my 5 years of competing.  Watching all the members cheer on Kaitlin’s epic performance gives me chills just thinking about it. Lots of raw emotions were on display, truly an amazing show of our community!  Remember, you have until 8 pm to put your score into the CrossFit Games site where you registered.  Don’t forget, if you don’t enter it by then, there’s no way to go back in and add.  Also, add in Wodify so when/if we do this workout again, you can see your progress.   This week, of course we’ll host TNL’s for 19.3. Come to the box at 7:45 to watch as a group, then we have 8 athletes who have signed up to tackle it right away in front of an electric atmosphere. This week we have: Mike Allen, Vlad, Tony Mazur, Mac, Ashlee, Yogesh, Tina V, and Coach Marni competing!

This week for 19.3, it’s craft beer/wine week. Bring some craft beers or cool wine and share with your friends.  Sorry, no spirit points for how many beers you can drink.  

Buoy Bowls will be here Saturday, 9-1, serving up the goodness again for your post workout fuel. 

Also Saturday afternoon, we’re hosting the First Peak City Erg Fest with Jordan Lake Rowing Club. This is a free competition open to all our members. You can sign up here:  https://www.jordanlakecrew.org/peakcityergsprints and enter in a 500m, 1000m, or 2000m race. All the ergs will be hooked up to monitors to see how you are doing in your race.  Should be fun to come out and try for a PR and race against friends in many age divisions too.  

Programming wise, it’s Open week 3, so we have a mix of everything leading up to Friday.  With Friday being an unknown, Saturday is always subject to change, but we have made it pretty adaptable to whatever CrossFit throws at us.  What will 19.3 bring? We have had a repeat workout, we have had a body weight workout, will we have a 1 rep max style workout? 

Our Kids Classes will be doing a workout similar to the Open each week, just a week behind. Last week they tackled a partner version of rowing and wall balls, and it was so fun to watch! 

Our CFS Men’s Softball team has opening day Mardh 18th. We are also officially sponsored by Brewster’s Pub, where you’ll find us after games. Come join us! 

It’s out a bit on the calendar, but will sneak up on us, Murph will be Monday May 27th. We’ll likely have 3 classes this year to spread out the crowd, followed by our annual cookout and fun.  Let’s hope for better weather this year.  

Our Pre-teens Kids Class is 11 am on Sundays going forward, led by Coach Mirka. First class always free, this is done on a punch card, and designed for athletes 9-12 years old. This week they worked on the power clean, truly stellar work! Ask Coach Nick or Mirka if you think it would be good for your child.

Thursday
• Thursday Night Lights start at 7:45!  Metcon of the day is a 30 minute, every 3 minutes on the minute, good recovery style to prep for 19.3

Friday
• 19.3…

Saturday
• TBD based off 19.2, but expect a partner work

Sunday
• Box jumps, wall balls, v-ups, burpees! (subject to change)
