What an amazing Saturday at CrossFit Surmount!  I was truly impressed to watch everyone compete, truly amazed to see all the fans, friends, and family come out in support, and exceptionally thankful for all the volunteers who I could not have done the competition without.  Congratulations to those who competed, and our winners, Team Clangin’ and Bangin’ in our RX division, and the WOD Squad in our Intermediate division.  Congrats also to all those who competed for the first time, and so many of you who got PRs during the day.  Community and competitiveness were at a perfect balance, and it’s an honor to have you all as members.  Thank you, well done, and I can’t wait to the next one! I hope it provided you all with a little inspiration to keep pushing towards those goals, and setting new ones.  Never stop improving, never stop learning, always be better than yesterday.

Some specific special thanks to give out…Special thanks to Debbie for setting up her massage table, I know that was a life saver for so many of you. Thanks to Marni, Deborah, and Ryan Scott who judged just about every event (and Fernando as well for judging in the morning). Thanks to Lindsay and Jen for setting up all the event equipment. Thanks to Rona for taking amazing pictures of the event. And lastly thanks to Meredith for holding down the fort at home so I could be at the gym all day emceeing things and mixing hot jams on the boom box.  I know I’m missing some people, but know I’m very thankful for all of you as well, so much help was given and offered, truly awesome sauce!

Monday September 4th is Labor Day, and we’ll celebrate with classes offsite at the Apex sand volleyball courts on Apex Barbecue Rd (off Evans).  The workout that day will be in the sand, so dress appropriately and bring hydration.  There will be a scaled option in the grass if you are adverse to the sand.  We’ll have 2 classes that day, 8:30 and 9:45 am.  Of course, weather permitting.

Again, lots of new members continue to come in, thanks for everyone’s referrals, as that is our #1 source of new members. Keep up the great community work, and welcome and introduce yourself to anyone you don’t recognize.

We are officially registered as a Barbells for Boobs team! Now with the competition over, this will be more of a focus for me, and you’ll get more info on this shortly about how to raise money for the cause and so forth. T-shirts will likely be ordered as well.  We will be having this event on Saturday October 14th. More info to come soon, but pencil that in your schedule. This is a great fundraiser, and certainly has a special place for many of us this year.  You can start fundraising if you’d like or just join our team right now, by going to this link and click here.

Remember our referral program: Anytime you bring a friend in to try out CrossFit Surmount, you get a Fit Aid or Kill Cliff from the fridge on the house! Furthermore, should that person join, your next month’s membership will be discounted by 15%.  Many of you have brought in new members recently, and will see that discount in your next invoice.  There’s no limit to how many drinks you can earn, and how many months of discounts you can earn either.  You love CrossFit Surmount, and it’s more fun with friends and family, so bring them in and reap the rewards. (Note: This program applies to new members only, not bringing in a former member, though we’d love to see them too)
