First, tell us a little bit about yourself. What are your interests outside of CrossFit?

Like a lot of people in the area, I grew up in NY and when people ask I tell them I was right underneath JFK airport. I went to college outside of Philadelphia and moved here right afterwards. For work, I am a Sales Manager for a small biotech company. As most of you know, I am married to Robyn Pecora, navigating that whole blended family thing with 4 kids between us (11 yo – 21 yo) which keeps us pretty busy so you can imagine with all of that and some time at CFS there isn’t a lot left for outside interests! LOL But we definitely go to the Comedy Club and concerts quite a bit. I really like supporting local artists like that. We seem to make time to get out & about for some adult time to eat, drink, & be merry

How and why did you get involved in CrossFit?

I got involved with Crossfit after Robyn purchased a Groupon somewhere while we were dating. Then we started coming to the Saturday Community WODs with our kids a handful of times. I was hooked. The timing was perfect b/c I was so bored and done with the traditional gyms & weightlifting I had been doing since I was a teenager. All 3 aspects really fall in line with what motivates me… functional fitness, constantly varied, done at a high intensity

 

What was the first workout that you completed?

I really have no idea which workout I had completed first. It was definitely one of the Saturday Community WODs and I still love those. What it brings out in everybody. Wanting to do my best and not wanting to leave more for my partner.

What are your current and future training goals?

Goals? Sh*t… just to keep coming and put off getting fat is my goal. Seriously though, someday I want to make the Online Qualifiers like Mike Allen did!! I guess each year when the Open comes I want to do better than the year before. That’s definitely something that motivates me

What is your favorite activity or lift, e.g., pull-ups, dead-lifts, running, front squats, snatches, burpees, etc.?

I really enjoy the Olympic lifts. I never really did those before and I have grown to appreciate the simple complexity of a movement like the Snatch. How fine-tuned and perfect everything has to be all at once to do that well

What is your least favorite activity or lift?

Pullups & Toes-to-Bar. Anything that requires hanging on that damn bar. My hands really let me know how much those activities suck

What PR are you most proud of achieving and why?

I think I would be most proud of stringing Double-Unders together. That experience in CrossFit really stands out for me… sucking at those to start. Not being able to do them at all and then committing to change that… watching videos, practicing, etc until I could finally put a bunch together really feels awesome. It’s one of the things I love most about CrossFit. That specific challenge, some physical activity that I cannot do… busting my ass to work at it… and then seeing the result. I really enjoy the challenge of that entire process

What do you enjoy more, strength or conditioning and why?

I guess I enjoy the strength components more mainly because I suck so bad at the endurance stuff. But that’s why I come. To get better at the stuff I currently suck at. So as much as I may like the strength components more I guess deep down I want the endurance exercises that kick my ass and humbles me too

Favorite food(s)?

Any food that I can eat with my hands… sushi, burritos, pizza, burgers, sandwiches !!

  • 3 Fun facts? Hmmm. Believe it or not I do own a few shirts! Yup. I really do… I was also stand-up comic for a bunch of years in my former life and worked with all of the great ones… and I’ve run with the bulls in Pamplona
