How and why did you get involved in CrossFit?
I was at the heaviest I had ever been. I decided I didn’t want to live this way anymore and wanted to set a better example for the kids and for my clients. I had looked into CrossFit 2 years ago, but because of the cost, I made excuses. This time, I decided I was worth the effort.
What was the first workout that you completed?
One of the first workouts I did was the Open 21.2. Dylan was my partner for time and I think I may have given my WTF face when he said “come on you can do 2 more”, haha.
What are your current and future training goals?
I am hoping to get back into running again and start doing 5K and 10K races again. I am also excited to rehab my shoulder and start doing overhead workouts again.
What is your favorite activity or lift, e.g., pull-ups, dead-lifts, running, front squats, snatches, burpees, etc.?
I love deadlifts and backsquats. Most often you will find me on the bike.
What is your least favorite activity or lift?
I hate burpees ( who doesn’t), but I want to get better at them.
What PR are you most proud of achieving and why?
My back squat PR. My most recent one because it was during 5am class, that is an amazing group of athletes.
What do you enjoy more, strength or conditioning and why?
I like strength more, it is really empowering to lift weights and feel badass about doing it, but I want to do more conditioning because I know that will help me get stronger.
Favorite food(s)?
coffee (does that count)?
What are 3 fun facts about yourself?
1) I grew up playing basketball on boys’ teams because there were no girl teams when I was a kid, they started girls teams when I aged out of rec leagues. 2) I ran 4 half marathons and over 30 5k races in about a 2-year time span ( 5 years ago). 3) I am allergic to tree fruits, so I can’t eat apples and stuff.
