First, tell us a little bit about yourself. What are your interests outside of CrossFit?

My family, Montessori, Yoga, and Cooking.

How and why did you get involved in CrossFit?

Together with Gina Vespi, Danielle Harper, Kristina Ottoman, and  Doreen Baum, we all did a Living Social for Crossfit Express right after the box first opened. We just got together and decided to give it a try! I had started my journey toward better health with yoga 4 years before, and thought I was ready for adding something else into my exercise regimen. We all loved it right from Day 1, and I never looked back!

What was the first workout that you completed? What do you remember most about the workout?

I honestly do not remember; maybe something with burpees? Or perhaps jumping Jacks. I mostly remember from those days, just hoping I would not throw up. Keeping it real here.

What are your current and future training goals?

My current goals are to keep improving in all areas. My future goals are to DO A PULL-UP!!! And climb that rope again.

What is your favorite activity or lift, e.g., pull-ups, dead-lifts, running, front squats, snatches, burpees, etc.

<Whispering> I love burpees now.

What is your least favorite activity or lift?

Overhead squats.

What PR are you most proud of achieving and why?

It has to be finishing Murph. Last year I did only half, so I felt very good for finishing the whole thing this year.

What do you enjoy more, strength or conditioning and why?

I honestly cannot answer that, as in my mind, they go hand-in-hand. I love all aspects of all the training we do at Crossfit Surmount.

Do you eat Paleo/Zone?

HAH! The question I wrestle with each day. I do the best I can, but I truly struggle with diet. I try to eat vegetarian, but do occasionally have some poultry or fish. I also fall off the wagon a LOT, and then I try to get back on as soon as I can. I am most proud of the fact that I have quit drinking diet soda; that was a big victory for me!

What are 3 fun facts about yourself?

  1. I love to do word puzzles. Sadly, I now need old-lady glasses to see the words.
  2. I love looking at new recipes; I have an enormous collection of cookbooks. However, I seem to do a lot of reading, but not so much cooking! I do LOVE to cook when I have the time though.
  3. Music is a HUGE part of my life. One of the things I love most about Crossfit Surmount is the loud music! It really helps me get through tough WOD’s, and of course I lean toward the alternative rock side….
